Membership Website

A WordPress membership site where people sign up, pay each month or year and reach your content on their own.

Selling access to your content by hand, with emails and shared links, does not scale. We build a WordPress membership website with up to 3 member tiers, gated pages, posts and downloads, and recurring payments through one provider. Members sign up, pay, log in and manage or cancel their membership themselves, and every step is tested before launch.

  • Up to three member tiers with their own access
  • Recurring payments collected through your provider
  • Sign-up, login, account and cancellation handled by members

What it is

Membership Website is a WordPress website of up to 10 pages with up to 3 member tiers, gated pages, posts and downloads, and recurring payments through one payment provider. It includes sign-up, login, account and cancellation flows, welcome and payment emails, one email tool connection, test sign-ups and a written member admin guide.

Why businesses buy it

Coaches, creators, associations and publishers often start by selling access manually, then spend hours on passwords, payments and lost links. A membership site takes that work away, but only if every flow works: sign-up, payment, renewal, access and cancellation. This package sets up each one and tests them before launch, including renewals and cancellations, which are easy to forget. Members serve themselves, payments arrive in your own provider account, and a written admin guide shows your team how to manage tiers and content.

Problems this solves

Member content sits behind a clumsy mix of tools and passwords

We build a WordPress site of up to 10 pages with up to three member tiers. Gated content rules control which tier sees each page, post or download.

Renewals depend on you chasing members for payment

Recurring payments run through one payment provider, and members get welcome and payment emails. Renewals are tested before launch, along with sign-ups and cancellations, so money comes in on time.

Members cannot manage their own account or cancel cleanly

Sign-up, login, account and cancellation flows are built and tested. Members can handle their own details, which cuts the admin messages that land in your inbox.

Access rules slip and the wrong people see paid content

Access rules for each tier are tested before launch, alongside test sign-ups, renewals and cancellations. If a rule lets the wrong person through, it is fixed before members join.

A good fit if

You sell access to articles, downloads, recordings or other content.
You want up to three tiers, such as free, standard and premium.
You want members to pay monthly or yearly without you chasing them.
You want members to manage and cancel their own membership.

Not the right fit if

You sell physical or one-off digital products. See WooCommerce Store Build.
You take appointments rather than selling access. See Booking Website.
You need full online courses with quizzes and certificates. See Online Course Website.
You only need a public site with no member area. See WordPress Business Website.

How it works

  1. At intake we agree your tiers, prices, what each tier includes and the payment and email tools to connect.
  2. We design the public pages and the member area, including sign-up and account pages.
  3. Up to 10 pages are built on WordPress, and up to 3 tiers are set up with access rules for pages, posts and downloads.
  4. Recurring payments are connected through one provider, and welcome and payment emails are set up with one email tool.
  5. Test sign-ups, renewals, cancellations and access rules are run and checked against each tier.
  6. After two rounds of changes the site goes live, and your team gets a written member admin guide.

What you provide within 72 hours

Your portal lists these the moment you order. Delivery starts the working day after everything is in and your access is checked.

  • Hosting and WordPress admin access by invite or a key you control, or approval to set them up in your name.
  • Payment provider account access by invite.
  • Your tiers, prices and what each tier includes.
  • Your logo, brand colors and photos.
  • One person who approves the design.
The 72-hour rule. Send everything on your checklist, including access, within 72 hours of ordering so your build starts on time.

What you receive at handover

  • A WordPress membership website of up to 10 pages
  • Up to 3 member tiers with gated content rules for pages, posts and downloads
  • Recurring payments through one payment provider and one email tool connected
  • Sign-up, login, account and cancellation flows, plus member welcome and payment emails
  • A test sign-ups and payments report
  • A written member admin guide

Expected benefits and how to measure them

  • Can turn your content into steady recurring income
  • Helps cut the admin of chasing payments and granting access by hand
  • Makes it easier for members to join, stay and manage their own account
Active members by tier
Read member counts from the site's member admin each month and track the trend.
Cancellations
Compare cancellations with new sign-ups each month, using your payment provider's subscription report.
Sign-up rate
Divide new sign-ups by visits to your join page in analytics, month by month.

Before you start: Note how many paying members you have today and how you collect their payments. Record the hours each month spent on member admin.

These are things to track, not promised results. Outcomes depend on your data, your team and your market.

Running costs

The build is paid once, and the price is shown before you buy. After launch you pay for hosting and your domain, any paid membership plugin you choose, and payment fees on each charge, billed by your payment provider. Every account stays in your name.

Custom requirements

More than three tiers, a community forum or members moved from another platform? Add a note at checkout for a written Change Quote. Very large projects use the Custom AI enquiry form instead. For courses with quizzes and certificates, see Online Course Website.

Keep it running

A site that holds member accounts and takes payments needs regular care. After the support period, that care is handled by webcare24, our WordPress care brand, covering updates, backups, security and fixes. There is no Upmark maintenance fee.

Questions about this product

Can members cancel their membership on their own?

Yes. Members get an account page where they can see their tier, update their details and cancel, and the cancellation flow is tested before launch. Cancelling stops future payments through your payment provider. You decide at intake whether access ends straight away or at the end of the period they have paid for.

Can we move existing members from another platform?

Not in this package. Moving members, their payment plans and their history from another platform is a separate job, because saved payment details often cannot be transferred. If you have existing members, note it at checkout and we send a written Change Quote. Some owners instead invite existing members to join again.

What content can be locked to members only?

Pages, blog posts and downloads such as PDFs, templates or recordings. Each of the up to three tiers has its own access rules, so a standard tier might see articles while a premium tier also gets downloads. Video can be gated by placing it on a members-only page. Full courses with quizzes or certificates are outside this scope.

Which payment providers handle the recurring payments?

One provider, usually Stripe or PayPal, with the account in your name. Members pay monthly or yearly, as you choose for each tier, and renewals are charged automatically. Payment fees are set by the provider. We test sign-ups, renewals and cancellations before launch, so you see each step working with your own account.

Can members talk to each other in a forum on the site?

No, community forums are not part of this package. The site handles sign-up, payments and gated content. A forum adds moderation, notifications and extra plugins, so it is quoted separately. Note it at checkout for a Change Quote, or link members to a community space you already run elsewhere.

When can the membership site start taking sign-ups?

The delivery time is shown in the price panel before you order. It starts once hosting and payment provider access and your tiers, prices and what each includes arrive, which should be within 72 hours. Every day of delay beyond that moves delivery by 3 working days. Sign-ups open after test sign-ups, renewals and cancellations pass.

Who looks after the membership site after launch?

We support the site for 30 days after launch. After that, webcare24, our WordPress care brand, takes over care: updates, backups, security and fixes, which a site holding member accounts needs. There is no Upmark maintenance fee. Your team handles members, tiers and content day to day using the written admin guide.

Turn your content into a membership that runs itself.

Order the Membership Website and give members a tested way to sign up, pay, log in and cancel, while payments land in your own provider account.
