Website & Marketing Add-ons

Extra Language

Your new site in one more language, with a switcher and the search settings that show each version to the right people.

If you sell in more than one language, visitors expect to read your site in theirs. Extra Language adds one more language to your website or store build, on up to 8 pages. We load your translated text, add a language switcher, translate menus and forms, and set hreflang tags so search engines show each language version to the right audience. Everything is checked in both languages.

What it is

Extra Language adds one more language, on up to 8 pages, to a website or store build from Upmark Labs. We set up the language, load your translated text, add a switcher, translate menus and forms, and check hreflang tags. You supply the translation. For a larger site translated for you, see AI Website Localization.

Why businesses buy it

A second language done badly can hurt more than it helps. Pages show the wrong language, forms stay in English, and search engines treat the two versions as duplicates. This add-on sets up the language properly on the same build: a clear switcher, menus and forms in both languages, and hreflang tags that tell search engines which version is for whom. Everything is checked in both languages before launch, so visitors in each market get a site that feels written for them.

Problems this solves

Customers in another language market struggle with a single-language site

Extra Language adds one more language on up to eight pages of your build. Your translated text is loaded, and menus and forms appear in the new language too.

Visitors have no easy way to switch between languages

A language switcher is added so visitors can change language on any in-scope page. The switcher and forms are checked in both languages before launch.

Search engines show the wrong language page to searchers

Hreflang tags are set and checked so search engines know which page serves which language. Searchers in each market are more likely to see the right version.

A good fit if

You sell to customers who prefer a second language.
Up to eight key pages need to be in that language.
You have translated text from your team or a translator, or will order Page Copywriting for it.
You are buying a website or store build from us.

Not the right fit if

You need your text translated for you. This add-on loads text you supply; see AI Website Localization, or add Page Copywriting for new copy.
You need products or blog posts in the second language. That is quoted through a Change Quote.
You are planning search across several countries. See International SEO Setup.
You need more than eight pages in the new language. Note it for a Change Quote.

How it works

  1. At intake you confirm the language and market, and send translated text for up to 8 pages from your team or translator.
  2. We set up the language on your platform and add a language switcher to the menu.
  3. Translated text is loaded on each page, and menus and forms are set in the new language.
  4. Hreflang tags are set, and the switcher, forms and hreflang are checked in both languages before one revision round.

What you provide within 72 hours

Your portal lists these the moment you order. Delivery starts the working day after everything is in and your access is checked.

  • Site or store admin access, shared with the parent build.
  • Translated text for each page, or Page Copywriting added to your order.
  • The language and market you want to reach.
The 72-hour rule. Send everything on your checklist, including access, within 72 hours of ordering so your build starts on time.

  • Up to 8 pages loaded with the translated text you supply (translation is not included)
  • A language switcher
  • Hreflang tags set and checked
  • Menus and forms in the new language

Expected benefits and how to measure them

  • Lets customers read your site in their own language
  • Helps search engines send each market to the right page
Visits to second-language pages
Track visits to the new language pages in analytics month by month.
Enquiries from the market
Count form submissions made on the new language pages.
Clicks by country
Filter Search Console by the target country and compare clicks before and after launch.

Before you start: Note current visits and enquiries from the target country or language before the new version goes live.

These are things to track, not promised results. Outcomes depend on your data, your team and your market.

Running costs

Some platforms need a paid translation plugin or app to run a second language, billed by its maker. We confirm at intake whether your platform needs one and which plan fits before anything is bought.

Custom requirements

Add a note at checkout if you need something specific. If it fits within the Scope Card it is simply included. If it goes beyond it, you get a written Change Quote within two working days, and that work starts only once you accept it, with its time added to your delivery date.

Keep it running

The second language is looked after with the rest of the site. On WordPress builds, webcare24, our WordPress care brand, handles updates, backups, security and fixes after the support period. On Shopify Store Build and Store Migration, the optional monthly maintenance covers it. New pages added later need their translation added too.

Questions about this product

Which packages can Extra Language be added to?

Extra Language is offered with WordPress Landing Page, WordPress Business Website, Corporate Website, Booking Website, Membership Website, WooCommerce Store Build, Shopify Store Build, Website Redesign, Website Migration to WordPress and Store Migration. Add one Extra Language for each additional language you need, in the same order as your build.

Do you translate our website text?

No. You supply the translated text for up to 8 pages, from your own team or a translator you trust. For new copy written directly in that language, add Page Copywriting for each page. If you want a larger site translated for you, with a native-language review step, see AI Website Localization. We load the text and check both languages.

What is hreflang and why does it matter?

Hreflang is a setting that tells search engines which language and region each page is for. Without it, a visitor in Germany might be shown the English page, or two versions might compete with each other. We set hreflang tags on every translated page and check them, so each version can be shown to the right audience.

Which translation plugin or app do you use?

It depends on your platform. On WordPress and WooCommerce we use a well-supported multilingual plugin. On Shopify we use its built-in languages, with a translation app where needed. Some of these have paid plans, billed by their makers. We confirm the choice with you at intake before anything is bought.

Are products and blog posts translated too?

No. This add-on covers up to 8 pages, plus menus and forms. Products and blog posts are outside the scope, because catalogs and blogs vary a lot in size. If your store or blog must be in both languages, note the numbers at checkout and we send a written Change Quote.

Can I add more than one extra language?

Yes. Add one Extra Language for each language you need, and each gets its own pages, switcher entry and hreflang settings. If you are planning search across several countries, compare International SEO Setup, which looks at how your site appears in each market, not only the language of the pages.

Speak to customers in their own language.

Add Extra Language and launch your site in one more language on up to 8 pages, with a switcher, translated forms and hreflang set for search.
