What it is
Data Foundations Setup is a one-time service that builds a small data warehouse for reporting. We set up BigQuery or managed Postgres in your own cloud account. Then we connect up to four sources through a managed connector tool. Then we build up to ten tested reporting tables and document them.

Dashboards built straight on each tool inherit those gaps. A small warehouse gives every report one cleaned source to draw from. - We design up to ten reporting tables, such as orders, customers, revenue and spend, for your approval.
- We build the tables with automated tests and test that the sync failure alert works.
- We hand over a data dictionary, a lineage diagram and a written handover report for your team.

You pay for a connector tool subscription, such as Airbyte, Fivetran or Stitch, directly to that vendor. Warehouse storage and compute are billed by your cloud provider. Small data volumes often fit within free tiers. We estimate your likely usage during setup so there are no surprises.

Add a note at checkout if you need something specific. If it fits within the Scope Card it is simply included. If it goes beyond it, you get a written Change Quote within two working days, and that work starts only once you accept it, with its time added to your delivery date.

We fix issues during the 30 days of post-launch support. Should we choose BigQuery or managed Postgres for the warehouse?
It depends on what you already use. BigQuery suits businesses on Google Workspace or using Looker Studio, and small volumes often cost little. Managed Postgres suits teams that prefer a standard database or already use one. We advise on the choice in writing at intake. The account is always opened in your name.
Which business tools can be synced into the data warehouse?
Up to four tools that Airbyte, Fivetran or Stitch support. Common choices are Shopify, HubSpot, Google Ads, Meta Ads, QuickBooks and Xero. A tool with no supported connector needs a custom link. That is available through the Custom API or Webhook Integration add-on.
What are the reporting tables in Data Foundations Setup?
Cleaned tables built from your raw source data, ready for reports. Typical examples are orders, customers, revenue, refunds and ad spend by channel. You can have up to ten, designed around the numbers your team already uses. Each table has automated tests that flag problems such as duplicates or missing values.
Does the data warehouse include dashboards?
No. This service builds the foundation that dashboards draw from. Business KPI Dashboard Build can add a Looker Studio or Power BI dashboard on top. AI Business Intelligence Dashboard lets your team ask questions in plain English. Building the warehouse first means both have clean data to work with.
How far back will our historical data go?
As far back as each connector can load from the source tool. Most connectors load the full history the tool's API allows. Repairing historical data beyond that, such as fixing years of miscoded orders, is not included. If your history needs that work, add a note at checkout for a Change Quote.
What happens if a daily data sync fails?
A failure alert goes to the email or channel you choose, so someone knows the same day. We test that alert before handover. During the 30 days of post-launch support we fix sync issues for you. After that, optional Upmark maintenance can watch the syncs and fix them when a source changes.
Is our data stored in your systems at any point?
No. The warehouse is built in your own Google Cloud or managed Postgres account, and the connector tool runs on your own subscription. We work through access you grant by invite or a key you control. When the project ends, you can remove our access and everything stays with you.
